Closing the Gap: Pay Negotiation for Women in Tech

Closing the Gap: Pay Negotiation for Women in Tech

This interactive meeting empowers women in the tech industry to confidently negotiate their salaries and benefits. Through exercises and role-playing scenarios, participants will develop negotiation skills, build confidence, and learn effective strategies to close the pay gap. The event will cover key topics such as researching market value, crafting compelling negotiation pitches, and handling common negotiation challenges. Participants will leave the workshop equipped with the tools and knowledge to advocate for themselves and achieve fair compensation.

Since women are statistically less likely to negotiate their salaries than men, this can result in lower salaries over time and a larger wage gap. This workshop aims to help level the playing field and ensure equal pay for equal work.

By providing a safe and supportive environment for women to practice negotiation skills, this workshop aims to address the persistent gender pay gap in the tech industry. Participants will have the opportunity to network with peers, share experiences, and foster a sense of community and empowerment.

This meeting is open to all genders and is in the IDEA Loft in the efactory.

Join us at our Q2 group meeting for an insightful panel discussion that tackles the critical issue of workplace discrimination faced by women and gender minorities in the tech industry.

Our 2023 workplace survey revealed a troubling statistic: 46% of women respondents reported experiencing discrimination in their tech workplaces. As a group, we'll discuss this issue head-on and equip ourselves with the knowledge and strategies to foster more inclusive and equitable work environments.

Our distinguished panel will feature 3 experts, providing insights into cultural, HR, and legal perspectives.

  • Racheal ‘Dami’ Odunewu, Career & Workplace Cultural Competency Consultant, Purpose Connect

  • Elizabeth Wente, Deputy General Counsel, SRC Holdings Corporation

  • A Human Resources Professional, to be announced

Attendees will gain valuable insights on:

  • Identifying and addressing various forms of discrimination

  • Legal implications and protections for women and gender minorities

  • HR best practices for creating inclusive policies and support systems

  • Strategies for promoting cultural competency and allyship

  • Fostering a culture of belonging and open dialogue
